Each Local Education Agency sponsoring the National School Lunch or School Breakfast Program is required to develop and implement a local school wellness policy. Part of the requirements within this regulation is to develop a district wellness committee. The wellness committee serves as an advisory committee regarding school health issues and is responsible for developing, implementing and periodically reviewing and updating the school wellness policy.
