CPESA

On October 23, high school student leaders from the Cultural Proficiency & Equity Student Ambassadors (CPESA) program gained firsthand experience in local government during an immersive visit with county commissioners. The meeting aligned perfectly with CPESA's annual theme, "Why Leadership Matters," offering students a unique opportunity to observe public service in action.

The student ambassadors attended several key government meetings, including the main County Commissioners Meeting, followed by the Salary Board and Election Board meetings. The educational visit culminated in a lunch session, during which students had the valuable opportunity to engage in direct conversations with the commissioners.

This hands-on experience provided CPESA members with real-world insights into local governance and leadership, demonstrating how public officials make decisions impacting their community. The visit exemplified CPESA's commitment to developing future leaders who understand the importance of civic engagement and cultural proficiency.
